Treatment For Lights.

This is an update of the treatment from the previous, a lot more accurate and in depth from before.
Mise - En - Scene
Costume ideas: Costume: We want our band to have star quality. How we style ourselves will help potray this. So it's very important we get it perfect. The style we're looking for is a mixture of a quirky yet simplistic, metallic delicacy. Kira will be wearing a mixture of Golds, Whites, blacks. Blouses and skirts. Makeup and hair will be simplistic, but noticable. With a smokey are to create a dramatic look but matched with a nude lip to keep the look grounded. Benwill be styled in Blazers Gold statement jewelry with a pop of glitter in something small like shoes. The colours will be similar with blacks gold and whites.
This is a polyvore set made by ben and i (bens on left mine on the right) Which gives a collage ofthe idea that we want for our costume design lots of blacks, creams and whites. With edgy bursts like the red nail polish and the glittery shoes.
The props we we will use are the fairy lights, antique box and an antique camera. The fairy lights will be used to drape onto the backdrop when we do the studio shoot, used so we can bur them and make them out of focus creating a bokeh effect. that is a signature styling that will be used throughout the whole piece of our project. The antique box will be used for the end of the narrative it represents what i find to bring me back to reality. The camera is what ben uses throughout the narrative which helps represent the idea of being followed and judged through the perspective of others. The props make a very important aspect to the video, even though there are only a few they make every bit of the difference as they are representative in their own ways to the whole piece.

Location:
Almost the same as our original idea. A studio, in the college, draped with dark curtains and decorated with fairy lights that will be out of focus. But the forest ( due to circumstances of the time of year filming) Will look autumn warm in the depths to make it seem more quirky. The warm look works perfectly with our video luckily. This will be set in christchurch park (shown on the map below)

The Cinematography will be very precise. It will contain a good amount of close ups of the artist inbetween shots to keep the main focus on them, this also helped by lots of mid shots showing off the costume worn by the artists as the styling in videos are very imporant, it's also important to show off the effort to the audience. In the outside shots there be lots of long shots and high angle shots to keep the charecters distanced to show the distancing that i feel especially from reality whilst im running away looking for 'home' Whilst the running commences, the camera will pan to follow to keep with the action. There will be lots of close ups of objects, e.g. the antique box to show the importance of the object within the video.

The sound that has been pre-recorded we will use and then sync it with the music when it comes to the editing. We will mouth along to the words when recording for the affect that we were singing it there and then. We will do this by using Bens IPad with the track on it then use it in the studio to mouth along too.

When it comes down to the editing we use lots of cuts giving it a jolty look, which is quite quirky but pop genre at the same time. Lots of dissolves and cross fades helping to gain continuity and getting the lyrics in sync with how we have mouthed it when we filmed.

Recording lights

This is a short video made by ben of recording lights. Using his Microkorg xl and the logic pro 8 programe on his macbook to edit the recording.

Detailed Synopsis

The initial idea we had from our previous synopsis idea has changed quite drastically, though the general idea that was behind it has kept in place. The more knowledge and feedback we had fromaudiences gave us more of an opportunity to better our previous ideas. This is what we eventually we came up with.

The video starts myself being introduced first, straight away after ben being introduced to make sure the focus is on the both of us. The bokeh lights drifting across the screen in front of us keeping the linking theme of lights that has been presented throughout our pop package. Then coming to my verse where the focus is put on me straight away with the use of the me being centered and midshots and close shots. An important range of shots used to keep the scene interesting with different cuts of ben inbetween as a quaint reminder that the focus will soon be on him. The chorus then begins the narrative, starting with me looking lost in a forest through a view finder which represents me being watched by someone else, then a high angle shot of myself running through the woods. Leaving the audience wondering why and what i am running from. Then to be revealed when you see a pan upwards of Ben with a camera to provide the workings of the narrative that he is the one looking for me. Throughout the chorus we cut to studio shots also.

Then to bens verse where we use lots of different shots consisting of close ups, mid shots, and different angles. We use two cameras to that we can get different angles whilst still keeping continuity. There are also some shots of Ben 'posing' for the camera creating an upscale star image for himself. Also placing in a shot of me, same as before to keep the focus on the both of us as a band. We then begin using lots of out of focus shots we had place inbetween to keep a good range of difference within the whole piece.

Towards the end of the second chorus we get to the purpose of what I am running towards. The light up box in the wall which represents safeness. The shots coming up towards this are very distant or high angled to make it seem i am unsafe and looking for some kind of reality to hold onto. After the box is found that is the first close up of just me and my face looking serene to represent me finally finding something that is real. Which relates with the lyrics of the song. 'You show the lights that stop me turn to stone they shine when I'm alone'.

Towards the end of the video the shots are just different ones of Ben and I in the studio bring the focus back to the artists before the video ends. Once again this heightens the star image as the focus is purposely being put on them so they are noticed. This also helped by the mis-en scene will be based around golds back and creams to keep it quite sophisticated giving us a glamourous image. Co-ordinating outfits to an extent which is very popular in the pop industry, but giving each of us an individual twist with contrasting colour items to give us individuality at the same time.

We will start filming for this soon the ideas we have come up with have outdone anything we even could have thought of at the beginning of the project. This detailed description will help us majorly when it comes to filming as it gives us a literal step by step guide of what we want. Some of the effects we want will come in with editing at the end, but most of it will be done when filmed.
